BOSSIER CITY, La. - The United States women's national volleyball team overcame a two sets to one deficit to beat Bulgaria in the fifth set tie-breaker of their Tokyo Women’s Volleyball Qualification Tournament match.
The match went 21-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 15-10 in the Stars and Stripes favor with multiple players contributing to the comeback effort.
Team captain and outside hitter Jordan Larson said, "Yeah it's fantastic. It's going to bleed over until tomorrow and we need that momentum going into tomorrow. It's a really important match for is. There's a lot riding on the line. It give me chills thinking about it."
Opposite hitter Jordan Thompson said of the crowd support at the CenturyLink Center, "Just even having them chant USA after big points, we could hear them. They were excited for us. We were feeding off the energy. It was really amazing."
Now at 2-0 in Pool C play the US faces 11th ranked Argentina in their close to pool play Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
