BOSSIER CITY, La. - In front of an extremely vocal crowd the United States women's volleyball team began pool play the perfect way winning in straight sets against Kazakhstan.
Middle blocker Tori Dixon said, "The crowd was great honestly I wasn't expecting how loud, they were loud and proud and we're just really fortunate to be playing on US soil in front of this crowd and thanks to Shreveport for showing up tonight."
The US won 25-17, 25-10 and 25-10 against Kazakhstan looking stronger in each set.
Outside hitter Kelsey Robinson said of her team's play, "Yeah I think in training we are constantly mixing up lineups and constantly changing things so a lot of time when we get to play it's kind of the first time a lineup has been practiced together.
"So I think that initial part of the game in the beginning, it's learning each other again and picking it up right away and so as the game goes on you see us get a lot better, much more comfortable, much more in system and it makes it easy."
The United States is back on the court Saturday evening as they'll face Bulgaria who began pool play with a win against Argentina. The match begins at 5:00 p.m. in the CenturyLink Center.
