FRANKLIN, La. - In the wake of Tropical Storm Barry, a family of five is trapped in Franklin, La. and first responders from the Shreveport-Bossier City area are assisting with the rescue attempt.
KTBS 3's Jamie Ostroff and Josh Hale are with those first responders, but had to stop about seven miles from the scene because of rising water.
Authorities say they were concerned that they may have to rescue the guardsmen who went to help because water went over the hood of their vehicle.
Fortunately, those guardsmen made it back safely after aborting the mission.
Late Saturday, Bossier Sheriff's deputies were using their amphibious vehicle to try and get to the family. If they can't, they’ll need to call the Coast Guard to bring in a helicopter.
